The absolute wonder of cosmic events is worth the time and effort to discover and analyze them. That there must have been millions of similar events in the history of the universe does nothing to diminish our sense of discovery and wonder at each new one WE discover in our individual 1 in

It's Time To Suck It Up And Pay Our Bill

Renifer (con't)

I have often said that Bush was talked into this mess because advisors "sold" him on the value of "finishing the job" his father started and the military establishment felt it ws time to give a new generation the battle experience they feel each generation needs. Off-budget wars, not Declared and unsupported by Congress are a bad idea in a Democratic society.

I also agree about not negotiating drug prices; absolutely a giveaway, no matter the defense of supporting drug company research. Most drugs today, many for treatment of the same group of symptoms, are for symptom relief, not cures. It is more profitable, WAAAAAYYY more profitable, to treat symptoms than provide cures.

Please don't include me with Republicans, I am Independent.

Having said that, I can't believe how many facts you just have incorrect. The U.S. owns very little Greek debt, it is mostly owned by the Euro group countries. Greece DID spend themselves into this mess with bloated public sector employees, many of whom work half-days, only a few days a week, if they show up! Others have "no-show" jobs, awarded through political influence. Greece could operate just fine with a lot less corruption and bribery, and 40% less public employes and still get vital jobs done!

CHIP was added to Medicaid to ensure that children of poor/low income parents got health care, and is one of the eligibility income areas that has been stretched by increasing income eligibility minimums, and utilization in excess of other groups.

I am not against helping children, but by having so many children that are unplanned and/or unsupported we take away resources from all. You can't keep adding beneficiaries into the system in increasing numbers and expect the resources to be there to provide for them. This is one path to destruction. Better to devote a portion of those monies to family planning, education, tracking down "fathers" who don't provide support and otherwise aiming to put CHIP on a more secure basis.

If unmarried mothers were forced to name fathers, and fathers required to provide support, there would not only be less children, there would be less resource utilization.

As I have already noted, I think Defense systems and budgets are politically mis-managed, mis-directed, and worst of all, mis-allocated to large adventures and nation building, where Special Forces brigades could effectively search and destroy most of these terrorist groups and leaders, as we have proved.

Debt Ceiling Debate Sows Fear Among Small Business Owners

Well, when you say it like that.

Seriously, you have to make a choice; free market capitalism or Socialism.

Having made that choice, and reviewing the .long term results of both, no sane person would conclude that socialism provides a better standard of living or more opportunity than free market capitalism. Capitalism always has resulted in underclasses of people at the low end of the ladder, and many who, generationally, climb up; through education, through individual achievement, whether through entrepreneurship, or being promoted in a career choice, or both. There is no other system which provides more choices, or more opportunities.

Some people make bad choices; that's on them. Yet, in America over 1.6 million nonprofits try to help through outreach programs for education, housing, health care, job help, clothing and more, so the free market's brand of "socialism" is at work.

It's the ones who don't try, who don't get educated, who hurt the rest through defeatism and lack of personal responsibility. There will always be folks who, knowing that there is a system which will rescue them, will take advantage. They would not make those same choices in countries which allow people to suffer the consequences of their decisions.

I do agree that both Conservatives and Liberals have made REALLY BAD choices for our country in the last generation.

That's why I'm hopeful that Independents will get organized, field local and national candidates, and get America turned around.

In the eighteen years between birth and HS graduation, a child needs support from parents of approx.$180,000 using accepted figures (food, clothing, housing, etc). Add to that educational and other costs provided by state, local and federal government of approx $200,000. Those costs also don't include "societal " costs like pollution, substandard housing, health problems, and more. And, that's before they pay their first "tax" dollar.

Critical anyalysis just proves that it is responsible to undertake population control through community, religious and political leadership. Just one child less per household equals over $350,000 in resources that could be devoted to improving opportunity for the rest; for improving health care, education, and more.

Over a generation that's over a Trillion dollars-think about that!

I disagree. Greece and other situations are directly due to overspending, Progressive Solialist governments buying votes with with outlandish benefit programs for less-than-enthusiastic "workers." When the government is the largest employer, both directly and indirectly (hint, hint), you pay more and get less. Whether you define social programs as entitlements or as insurance policy contracts, you still have too many people, getting paid too much, to support them. Take Medicaid, where it started out reasonably, with poverty-level incomes the qualifier for benefits. Since then many states have raised the qualifying income threshold to 200%, 300%, even 400% of the minimum (up to $75,80,000 in some states), added additional benefits (CHIP) and others thereby costing states and federal government hundred of Billions more than a lower benefit level.

Wars? I agree that making large "wars"and nation building out of what should have been a "hunt til destroyed" Special Forces mission is running up bills over a Trillion to date (That's Trillions with a big "T" folks!).

Tax preferences and subsidies that only misallocate capital should be ended for EVERYBODY!

Restructure Health Care and Education through private enterprise, saving over $1,000,000,000 (even up to $2 T) Trillion a year! (that's Trillion with a big T" folks!).

I prefer ending tax preferences, subsidies and incentives instead of raising taxes. Oh, and ending just a few little geo-monopolies and market share monopolies would also save hundreds of Billions! (that's Billions with a big B"B folks!)

Enjoyed "talking" with you.

I am one of the least prejudiced people you will ever meet; I am however, a truth seeker and teller.

And the President's supposed bigger "cuts" were actually based on a tax increase to support them, while still allowing more big government spending for entitlement programs.

Take another look at the proposals, the Congressional Budget Office "Scoring" of same, and the math.

Finally, let me suggest that no one can individually change an idology; Obama's is one of Progressive Socialism; he owns it, and "owns up" to it. Others disagree that big government does anything but create problems; I am one of those.
