First the reference sources:
http://www.statehealthfacts.org/comparereport.jsp?rep=54&cat=4http://www.cms.gov/MedicaidEligibility/downloads/ListStateMedicaidWebsites.pdfCHIP was added to Medicaid to ensure that children of poor/low income parents got health care, and is one of the eligibilit
y income areas that has been stretched by increasing income eligibilit
y minimums, and utilizatio
n in excess of other groups.
I am not against helping children, but by having so many children that are unplanned and/or unsupporte
d we take away resources from all. You can't keep adding beneficiar
ies into the system in increasing numbers and expect the resources to be there to provide for them. This is one path to destructio
n. Better to devote a portion of those monies to family planning, education, tracking down "fathers" who don't provide support and otherwise aiming to put CHIP on a more secure basis.
If unmarried mothers were forced to name fathers, and fathers required to provide support, there would not only be less children, there would be less resource utilizatio
n.
As I have already noted, I think Defense systems and budgets are politicall
y mis-manage
d, mis-direct
ed, and worst of all, mis-alloca
ted to large adventures and nation building, where Special Forces brigades could effectivel
y search and destroy most of these terrorist groups and leaders, as we have proved.
